How an ad guy solves a problem for Congress.
We now know Hamas took the hundreds of millions that was supposed to be for the people of Gaza- and instead dug tunnels for a non-existent “subway system.”
We have a company in the United States owned by Elon Musk, himself an immigrant, which specializes in building tunnels- “The Boring Company”
He wants to build “Hyperloops” – high speed tunnel-based transportation in America-
I know New York just wants subways to JFK and LaGuardia– and California wants high speed rail from top to toe.
Why don’t we hire Hamas to come here, forget all about wiping out Israel, and make a lot of money here digging tunnels to solve our transportation problems?
Elect Esrati to Congress. We need creativity, not lawyers solving our problems.
Hi David. I have followed you and appreciate your candor and openness about local issues and your support for reproductive rights for women. I am looking for your thoughts on the Israel/Gaza war. I would assume that in Congress your input and vote would be important. Please direct me to this issue in your platform information or let me know your thoughts.
Catherine, Thank you for asking. I will be but one vote of 435 on this issue if elected.
That said, this seems to be a hot-button issue. I consider Hamas to be a terrorist organization which does not follow the rules of war. They attacked the State of Israel, and did so without a declaration of war and inflicted massive casualties. I do address this in my video, The Power of U.S. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPYPqtRCLGg If you look at the number of Israeli deaths on the day of the attack as a proportion of the population- and draw a parallel to the 9/11 attack, this was the equivalent of over 50,000 US civilians being killed.
We and the Israelis, in general, do not negotiate with terrorists, and until all the hostages are released, I have a hard time supporting a cease fire. Wars do not include capturing non-combatants. I’m a veteran, I take this seriously.
As to accepting numbers released by Hamas of deaths caused by the response to the terrorist attacks, I’d like to be clear, if the Israeli military truly wanted to kill innocent women and children as a part of their mission to shut down Hamas- the death toll would be a lot higher.
The fact that Eqypt refuses to provide refuge to Gazan’s should speak volumes. While we fail with our own southern border to do what the Eqyptians do on their border of Gaza, when immigrants cross over, we provide shelter, services and food.
As to our support of Israel- I’d be more concerned with our support and military assistance to Saudi Arabia- where the 9/11 attackers came from, where women have minimal rights. I support Israel, although I don’t support Netanyahu’s policy toward settlements on the West Bank.
I wish American’s were more concerned with the number of civilians killed in Ukraine, or in any number of other countries including Yemen, or more importantly, the number of American’s who die from either guns or from drugs/addiction/lack of mental health care.
At this point, we need statesmanship to provide a workable peace in the Middle East. My favored solution is to take Jerusalem away from all of them, make it an independent city of the world- move the UN there- and stop the bickering.
Then we can start discussing if a 2 state solution is even feasible or desirable. Muslim women have more freedoms in Israel than they would have in most surrounding nations.
It’s a very complex situation.
The real question is- would Mike Turner even bother to respond? What has he done in this community? Who supports and funds him? That should be part of your decision.
If you are choosing between me and the other candidates- look at their body of work for the community- and who backs them.
Thank you
